Obama Campaign: Logo Design
I am very excited about this short explanatory film. It is one I hope many get to see, both inside and outside of the design world, because I think it shows what an epic role graphic design played in something bigger than we’d ever imagined. It brings about a great understanding of the powerfulness and importance of our field. (Part 2 below).
Mekanism
A great firm, with great projects. Hilarious menu videos.
Clearification may be my favorite; As much as I’d hate to promote Windows, the Vista campaign (with episodes starring comedian Demetri Martin) is quite entertaining. If Microsoft’s goal was to attract us young, doodling, sarcastic, dry-humored youngens, well you’ve got my attention ( but sorry- not my money!) Regardless, I’m grateful to have them give their money for this firm to have some fun…
Falkor Under the Sea

New background for Falkor. It juxtaposes nicely (texturally and conceptually) with my giant moon on the opposite wall… The crevasses deep down below and high up above! I have named the fish Atreyu.
The Other Shop

There is a tremendous store on Divisidero called The Other Shop that has an almost overwhelming collection of bizarre vintage objects. The prices vary depending on the dealer. One of my favorite things I got was this Eat tray, perfect in all its exuberant cheesiness. The exclamation point no doubt is for salsa…

Let’s ignore the awesome fact that the most crucial part of the sign is the least noticeable… And let’s enjoy how ironic it is that they forgot to finish the sign reminding people not to forget things. Either that, or this is a remarkably canny diagram that’s communicating subconsciously with us from another planet.
Brook Interior Fittings
I just loved my mom’s idea for taking up all that space on a largely stiffening stairway wall… Bringing in the mirror to open it up, the curtain for the soft impact, and giving a playful plethora of family photos to vary daily interest.
(Pictures of the rest of the house are continued…)
Letterriffic!
So you know that strange urge you can have for one beautifully executed letterform? I do! ::thumbs up::
Now, you can own one of several classic letterforms to awe and admire first hand. Okay, to be serious, there are definitely sellers like this out there… But what I like about this site is that there are decent typefaces, decent prices, a wide range of sizes, what seems like good quality, and you can choose from
a good list of finishes and colors. Good way to skirt around expensive designer-related typography merch… I recommend the “House Numbers” category.
To browse typefaces, see “Styles“, etc.. For estimate, go to “Order Now“, and type wanted letters in address line.
I’ve got my eye on a large Helvetica ‘a’, or maybe several smaller Claredon numbers…
